The article deals with the concept of a textbook for foreign students who
are studying at Russian regional universities. Often, foreign students, especially
from non-CIS countries, are poorly oriented in contemporary situation in Russia
and perceive it through the prism of cultural stereotypes. In addition, they do not
even have any knowledge about the territory where they are living. When we
include the linguoregional component in the course of “Russian as a foreign language”, we both inform them about the place of residence and stimulate their communicative competence due to the emphasis on everyday practices.
