Often, foreign students, especially from non-CIS countries, are poorly oriented in contemporary situation in Russia and perceive it through the prism of cultural stereotypes. In addition, they do not even have any knowledge about the territory where they are living. When we include the linguoregional component in the course of “Russian as a foreign language”, we both inform them about the place of residence and stimulate their communicative competence due to the emphasis on everyday practices.

The article attempts to describe the gestures used by the representatives of Turkish culture and to classify them by comparing with Russian gestures. While analyzing gestures, the principle of lacunarity, the absence of a phenomenon in a comparable language, was taken into account. The material of the study was observation of the process of communication of representatives of various cultures with native speakers of the Turkish language, an analysis of literature , from which one could draw descriptions of certain gestures, materials of modern media. The research methodology is based on a comparative analysis of two languages in a synchronous context. The study of gestures led to the following results: 1) the vast majority of gestures are lacunas (which have no analogues in another culture) for a representative of Russian culture; 2) gestures close in execution have distinctive features that do not allow them to be equated to Russian gestures in full. Possible coincidence of gestures in the aspect of execution, and increasing number of borrowed gestures from Western cultures, once again proves that a nonverbal culture is a “living substance”, influenced by cultural and socio-political changes in society. Nevertheless, in spite of this, today it is possible to determine and describe purely Turkish gestures, which are an integral part of communication with representatives of Turkish culture.

It is widely believed that culture plays significant role in foreign language teaching and learning. A huge quantity of researches and experiments have been done in this field so far. It has been widely recognized that language is a main mean through which culture is uttered. It is also believed that students cannot fully use the language efficiently even though being aware of its grammar rules and having enough knowledge in vocabulary. Such knowledge which we call “pure information” is beneficial, however does not lead learners’ insight of a certain language. Therefore, the development of students’ cultural awareness and intercultural communicative competence leads them to better critical thinking and further improvement in their target language knowledge. There are many methodologies of developing learners’ intercultural competence, but none of them is effective until elements of it are not fully considered. Thus, the present article seeks to review the elements of intercultural communicative competence, as well as possible approaches that can be used for teaching it.

The process of intertextuality is presented in the form of a system, the components of which are the precedent text, the recipient text and the intertext. One of the most significant forms of representation of the author’s personality is the сcultural concept and the features of its functioning in literary discourse. From the perspective of anthropocentrism, linguistic concept is considered as a cognitive propositional structure, the components of which are the subject, object, predicate and attribute. The main properties of the cognitive-propositional structure of the concept are its anthropocentricity, dynamism and openness in literary discourse. In literary discourse, the anthropocentricity of concepts is shown in their correlation to the discursive personality of the author and character. The dynamism of concepts is determined by a system of predicates that undergo various changes and transformations as the storyline develops. The openness of concepts is manifested in the possibility of expanding and enriching their conceptual space by including new conceptual meanings.
